Richard’s Camp is situated in the The Ol Choro Oirouwa Wildlife Management and Conservation Area which adjoins the north western boundary of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. A proportion of every nights fees goes back into this conservation partnership thus assisting in local community projects. The Camp is owned and operated by Richard Roberts and Liz Fusco and situated on the edge of a small forest that borders the short grass plains that have an enviable reputation for providing some of the most exceptional game viewing in the world. Big cats, elephant and plains game are regular visitors to the area, hippos graze the lawn at night and bird-life abounds. Originally built by Richard’s parents whilst carrying out conservation work in the Masai Mara in the 1980s - Richard’s Camp is a small and exclusive tented camp where the traditions of hospitality and comfort continue. Richard and Liz are supported by a terrific team of local Massai and Samburu guides who will share with you their intimate knowledge of the Masai Mara and its wildlife and peoples.  The camp has seven traditional and very comfortable tents each with ensuite bathrooms with flush loos and hot bucket showers. A solar lighting system provides low voltage light and each tent is thoughtfully furnished. Extra beds are available for families with children. Dining is normally taken outside under Kenyan skies, but for those rare rainy or chilly evenings there is a charming tented mess with a cosy sitting room and roaring fire where you can relax on comfortable sofas. The camp is best accessed by the twice daily scheduled service from Nairobi direct to an airstrip about 20 minutes from the camp. The Short rains are in November and the Long rains in April and May though the camp remains open all year.
