Pashan Garh - Panna National Park - India

Highly Recommended

Pasham Garh is situated in the Vindhya Hills overlooking the Ken River valley adjacent to the Panna National Park. Khajuraho a World heritage site renown for its sandstone temples and sculptures. is just 50km or 1 hour away.

The cottage suites at Pashan Garh are made of attractive dry packed Panna stone and glass, tucked in to rocky outcrops, each having views over the Vindhya Hills. All suites are large, extremely comfortable and have a private Machaan, verandah and luxurious bathrooms.

The central areas have an intimate sitting room leading out on to a wooden deck. An interactive kitchen and Indian chef are available for those interested in Indian cuisine. Dinner is normally served in the dinning room or outside under a Mahua Tree on the terraced verandah. One of the features of Pashan Garh is that you can eat when you want to, where you want to - some ideas might include dinner in your own Machaan or verandah, a bush dinner, on an Ox Cart or sample a traditional haandi dinner prepared in earthenware pots or a relaxed pool lunch.

There is a nice infinity pool and other areas in which to relax including a small lodge shop with a day room and internet access. The lodge has a strong eco focus, funds local village projects, and encourages the villagers to get as involved as possible. There is over 200 acres of private lodge and grounds and jungle ideal for birding or walking with the lodges knowledgeable naturalists.

Safaris in Panna National Park (12kms) away are rich and divers and generally take place in open top jeeps with trained guides once or twice a day. In the park the forests dominate with patches of dry plains, grassland, thorny woodland and even bamboo forests on the hilly slopes. Game is present with Bengal tiger, sloth bear, leopard, wolf, hyena, jackal and wild-dog. The reserve is also well known for its nilgi, sambar and chital deer together with wild boar. There are some 250 species of bird present which you can enjoy with a guide both in the park and the lodges own 200 acres of private jungle.
