The Camp that Africa’s old hands swear by, Little Governors’ casts its spell over all who visit from honeymooning couples to Presidents. "Our favourite camp in the Mara" according to the guide ‘Kenya’s Best’. The guide adds: "There is something about this camp that is very friendly, yet private. Guests seem to enjoy mingling with the staff and each other, and because of the smallness of the camp, you really feel special."
Intimate in character, there are just 17 tents tucked around a large watering-hole that teems with animal and bird life. From every veranda the view changes daily with giraffe and lion, elephant and warthog with the magical backdrop of the escarpment. Getting here is an adventure in itself, you first have to cross the Mara River by boat, then walk a short distance, escorted by armed guards, through the forest. The game in this area is outstanding and with a maximum of 4 to a vehicle you can explore the marsh and plains, visit the Mara River and hopefully see some of the annual migration. A hot air balloon flight in the early morning is a superb way of seeing the Mara and its incredible game. Meals are excellent, served outdoors during the day or in the candlelit dining tent at night. Come the evening it’s time for chilled drinks and tall tales around the blazing campfire. Then, finally, a delicious dinner and a hot-water bottle to keep you warm in bed. | Style | Traditional Safari Tents | | Air/Con | No | | Dining | Yes | | Children | Yes | | No. of Bedrooms | 17 tents | | Pool | No | | Activities | Game drives, bush walks, hot air balloon safaris, Masai village visits | | Price Range | From £110.00 full board including activities per person sharing, low season | +Find Similar Properties |
