Just outside Omaruru, on the granite foothills of the Erongo Mountains in central Namibia, is the Erongo Wilderness Lodge. The lodge is a secluded getaway, surrounded by huge boulders and pristine Namibian veld. The luxury tented chalets with overhanging thatched roofs - accessed by a system of wooden walkways - are built on stilts to disturb the environment as little as possible. The Erongo Mountains have particular importance in Namibia as they host a vast array of plant, reptile, mammal and bird species that are endemic or near endemic to Namibia.
