Elephant, Zimbabwe, Time for AfricaVictoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Time for AfricaZimbabwe, Time for Africa

This beautiful country provides many contrasting choices and good value for visitors wishing to see big game, abundant birds and wildlife. The unforgettable roar of Victoria Falls and the peace of Lake Kariba typify the majesty of this landlocked African country. From the Eastern Highlands, with its trout streams and golf courses, to the trumpeting of the Presidential elephant herd in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe offers superb and varied experiences.

MAP of ZIMBABWE

In the North, the Zambezi passes though some excellent game areas which can be seen from a canoe or privately owned lodges and tented camps. Here, with a glass of wine, you can watch the sun set over pods of hippo before spending the evening round the campfire listening to the night sounds of the African bush. Canoeing safaris are available on both the upper and lower Zambezi and vary in sophistication from basic participatory camping to luxury serviced safaris.

If you want a wilderness holiday, the Matusadona bordering Lake Kariba and Chizarira National Park have some excellent guided walking safaris.

In the south-east lowveld Nduna Lodge and the sumptuous Pamushana Lodge in the Malilangwe Private Wildlife Reserve have unique appeal with abundant game. Near Bulawayo, Barberton is a magnificent haven for black rhino and birdlife whereas Big Cave Camp and Amalinda set in the stunning Matopos Hills, allow you to see white rhino, bushman rock art and Cecil Rhodes's grave.

Roads are good in Zimbabwe but generally it is better to fly if your time is precious, as the distances are considerable.

Special interest holidays include: riding safaris, elephant back safaris, white-water rafting, golf (click here to find out about our golfing holidays), house boats, flotilla sailing, painting and fishing.
