Wolwedans private concession is situated in the heart of the NamibRand Nature Reserve in central southern Namibia, and just south of Sossusvlei. The guiding principle of Wolwedans is to allow guests to unwind and experience the desert's elusive grandeur and breathaking beauty.
The five contrasting camps, all built without the use of concrete and maintaining a soft approach to the surrounding landscape, are the perfect bases from which to explore vast stretches of awe-inspiring and undisturbed nature. Boulders Safari Camp This exclusive, modern camp in the far south of the NamibRand Reserve is situated in and around a group of monumental granite boulders. The four spacious tented rooms are built entirely of wood and canvas, and provide a unique classic safari experience. The main area consists of a dining and lounge tent, a breakfast deck and an open fireplace. The sundowner spot is on top of a massive granite rock with breathtaking views over the reserve. The camp requires a minimum 2 night stay to explore the deep south of NamibRand, following guided scenic drives and walking trails amongst the ancient hunting grounds of the Bushmen.
Dune Camp Located on the very edge of a 250m high dune, this rustic camp overlooks the prominent Losberg Mountain towards the east. To the west, the Chateau viewpoint - one of the reserve's most enchanting panoramas - can be reached by foot in less than five minutes. Ideally suited to the younger and more adventurous traveller, the charm of the camp lies in its tranquil and intimate atmosphere, capturing the romance of a bygone era. Accommodation isin 6 comfortable tents pitched on wooden platforms with a private ensuite bathroom and a spacious deck, allowing safe sleep-outs under the stars. The camp has a lounge, dining area and an open-plan kitchen - which allows guests to chat to their chef while he is preparing their three-course dinner.
Dunes Lodge The Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau, overlooking panoramic vistas in all directions and capturing the beauty of the desert in a most memorable way. Each of the nine spacious chalets has an en-suite bathroom and sports a private verandah - sleeping with your canvas blinds open is just like sleeping under the stars. The main complex consists of two lounges, a number of sundowner decks, a fireplace, a tea deck, a library, the wine cellar and two dining rooms. The lodge also has a swimming pool, which is suspended above the sand. All communal areas of the lodge open out onto decks with superb views. To make the most of your visit we recommend a stay of three nights.
Mountain View Suite This private suite, with 200 square metres of deck rising above the dunes, is located within walking distance from the Dunes Lodge, yet it is secluded, allowing guests to spend time in a homely and stylish atmosphere. Consisting of a spacious en-suite bedroom with a king-size bed, the Suite enables guests to enjoy the view of their private dune valley to the fullest. A shaded patio provides an ideal venue for meals and relaxed hours lazing in a hammock. Add to this a spacious lounge, bar cabinet and dining area and you have a wonderful home away from home. In addition, an open-plan kitchenette allows the preparation of meals at the Suite. The main veranda has a ‘star-gazing’ bed, which provides a wonderful sleep-out venue during summer.
Private Camp Situated in a quiet and idyllic valley, this splendid Suite caters for four guests exclusively. It is the perfect getaway for honeymooners or individuals seeking uncompromising privacy and solitude. The camp offers two spacious en-suite bedrooms, a ‘Sala’ for lazy siestas, various decks and the central lounge, combining a study, living room, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. Its open-plan design allows uninterrupted views of the surrounding nature. Get away for a day or two and revel in the luxury of reading, reflecting or taking walks in one of the most enchanting landscapes in Africa. Guided activities such as scenic drives, scenic flights, hot-air ballooning and nature walks can be arranged either privately (at an extra charge) or to be shared with other lodge or camp guests.
| Activities | Accompanied by experienced guides, visitors are introduced to the many facets of NamibRand Nature Reserve's desert habitat with its diverse fauna and flora - on foot, by car or from the air in a hot-air balloon. Interpretive scenic drives in open Land Rovers or walks with resident field-guides reveal the wonders of the desert - as do picnics in the wild, sundowners on the dunes and dinners by candlelight.
