Lying 8kms from the historic town of Galle famous for the Dutch Fort Victoria is perfectly placed for those who want to escape and close enough to venture forth and experience the sights and smells of a part of this magical island, with its daily fish and fruit and veg markets. The Fort, largely built by the Dutch in the 1660s is itself is undergoing something of a renaissance and restaurants and shops are appearing. Galle is the traditional home of jewellery design and manufacture in Sri Lanka and there is no shortage of shops that will offer you a wide variety of stones as well as making your designs.There are few villas on the beach that allow you to unwind quite so easily and completely as Victoria.
