The sun rises over a new morning at Tshukudu.  Already the guests eagerly await the early morning walk.  This special experience draws both young and old from all over the world. Tshukudu are well known for their rehabilitation programme.  Sick, injured or orphaned animals of all shapes and sizes are nursed back to health and re-introduced to the wild.  The 5000 hectare reserve in the Central Lowveld boasts the Big-Five, where previously there had been nothing.  The first animals to be re-introduced to the property were white rhino, hence the name Tshukudu, meaning rhino in Sotho.        The need for lions in the Northern Province and all over South Africa encouraged the family to start a lion breeding programme.  To date, some 270 lions have been bred and many reintroduced into various game reserves.    Some of these animals delight guests on the morning walk.  It is no small task, keeping step with an elephant or to watch out for a young lion's shenanigans.  The experience is unparalleled and brings back guests for more year after year.  No. of Bedrooms The Lodge can accommodate up to 30 people in 14 rooms.  All rooms allow you to  enjoy a view of the beautiful Drakensburg mountain range from the privacy of your own veranda.  Each room has an en-suite bathroom.  The Lodge has facilities and accommodation for people in wheelchairs.
