Rising out of the ruins of an ancient civilization, just outside Plettenberg, is the recently opened Tsala Treetop Lodge. Tsala means an elevated resting-place and the lodge is a blend of stone, wood, glass and water, high above the forest floor in the treetops of the Tsitsikamma forest with views of the Piesang river valley. Tsala Treetop Lodge, catering for only twenty guests, offers very special hospitality and service. There are wonderful beaches nearby and a good choice of sporting activities and excellent restaurants in the area. It is a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux organization.

There are large open suspended decks for dining and sunset viewing which overlook the forest and valley. The cuisine is imaginative and reflects the diversity of cultures to be found in this southern part of Africa. The comprehensive wine cellar stocks the best South African wines. Movement between the Lodge and suites is on elevated boardwalks, leaving the forest floor undisturbed. And even the swimming pool is raised up into the treetops.
