One of Australia’s most innovative examples of bush architecture, Toumbaal Plains House is a contemporary home designed in harmony with its surrounds. The Waugh family grazed cattle on this land for 100 years and the house is positioned on a plain where they camped during cattle drives. With over 5 kms of deserted coastal beach, mobs of kangaroos grazing on your doorstep and a variety of marine excursions, Toumbaal is an openly wild and remote location and ideal for a family getaway. Location : Toumbaal Plains House is set on a 200-acre private estate surrounded by Yuraygir National Park. Brisbane is 3 hours drive and Sydney is 8 hours drive. The house has its own private airfield and you can be flown from Coffs Harbour or the Gold Coast right to the front door. | No. of Bedrooms | Winner of the coveted Wilkinson Award, Toumbaal’s low curvatures have been designed to minimise exposure to the coastal winds, without impinging on the aesthetics of its environment. The house has three bedrooms, each with large sliding picture windows, and is perfect for up to 6 guests. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom while the large shared bathroom boasts the best panoramic bath view in Australia. All rooms open to the surrounding plains, skies and sounds of the ocean. The kitchen and living room blend together and incorporate soft couches and chairs, a large dining table with views, an internal fireplace and sliding windows. The central courtyard features a fireplace with a brick chimney and is the gathering point during the cooler winter months. | | Dining | We will arrange a gourmet hamper to suit your personal requirements and can include prime beef, fresh seafood and quality fruit and vegetables. A range of excellent Australian wines, beers and spirits is provided. With prior notice we are able to have a chef come in and prepare delicious meals. | | Activities | Surrounded by the Yuraygir National Park, Toumbaal is the perfect holiday spot for the active, while remaining a beautiful and wild place in which to do nothing at all. Walks: Yuraygir National Park offers superb coastal walks ranging from beachcombing strolls, 10 minutes walk from the house, to a 10 km walking track that is regarded as one of the most magnificent coastal walks in Australia. Fishing & boating: Kayak the clear waters of the Sandon River, head out fishing, watching dolphins or the Humpback whale migration. Dive trips can also be arranged. Aerial adventures: we can arrange introductory flying lessons, try your hand at aerobatics or take a scenic flight to Byron Bay for lunch. |
