The Clare Valley is one of Australia’s longest settled regions; its rustic and charming towns bear witness to their first British settlers. Its vineyards remain small, privately owned and with an air of seclusion that the larger commercial wine areas no longer have. David Hay and Michael Speers have lovingly restored Thorn Park, one of the valley’s older homesteads built in the 1850s and set in 60 acres of gently rolling hills and stately gums. With David’s skill in the kitchen and Michael as chief raconteur, good food and entertaining evenings are guaranteed.  Hosts: David Hay and Michael Speers No. of Bedrooms There are six tastefully furnished guest rooms (all ensuite) - three in the Homestead, two in the Coach House and one room in the Old Barn. Dining Drinks are served in the drawing room before dinner in the more formal dining room. Breakfast is a full-on meal, cooked to your needs and dinner is a three-course affair with excellent food and an extensive cellar. Private dining arrangements can also be made. Activities There are many heritage sights with some excellent examples of old English rural architecture, but the main attraction is the local vineyards.
