The Dock House is a remarkable property – not only for its beautifully executed interiors – but because of its absolutely prime location. Originally the Dockmasters House in Cape Town Port, it has been converted in to a delightful 5 bedroomed boutique hotel in the heart of the New Waterfront. Unusually it also has views and a good sized garden – who would have thought this possible in the most expensive piece of real estate in Africa?
The five individually decorated suites are all spacious, muted and classical in design, chandeliers and gilt mirrors mixing freely with glass – the bathrooms in turn can be quite contemporary and masculine shades of black and brown. All the rooms have plasma screen TV's and high speed wireless connection. The restaurant too tends towards the modern, with white studded leather chairs and crisp white linens. First class wines and menus are served. Outside, immaculate green lawns stretch down to the sizeable pool overlooking the original area of the Waterfront, and a chic bar serves both as a meeting point and a service area. There is a fully equipped gym and wellness centre on site. Children over 8 are welcome and there is an inter-leading room option for families if required. |
