Selous Game Reserve At about twice the size of Denmark, the Selous Game Reserve is the second largest wildlife reserve on earth and a World Heritage Site (one of only six in Africa). The Reserve has a varied terrain of rolling savannah woodland, grassland plains, rocky outcrops and dense forest patches, and is second only to the Serengeti in its concentration of wildlife. As well as elephant, there are hippo, wildebeest, hartebeest, sable, kudu, eland, lion, leopard and good opportunities to see wild dog. Walking safaris in the company of an armed guard are a feature of the Reserve and river safaris amongst the crocodiles and hippos are highly recommended. |
On arrival in Dar es Salaam, you will be met and transferred to the domestic terminal for a flight to the Selous National Reserve. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Sand Rivers to stay for 4 nights. Nights in the lodge can be changed to nights in a fly camp at no additional cost provided the arrangement is made in advance. Terms: Fully inclusive (all meals, laundry, soft drinks, beers, spirits and house wine).

Day 6
Ruaha National Park Only a little smaller than the Serengeti National Park, at nearly 13,000 sq. kms the Ruaha National Park is a vast , still comparatively unexplored game and bird sanctuary. The Park lies between two large rivers, one of which, the Ruaha, flows along the entire eastern border through spectacular scenery of rugged gorges and lush plains flanked by palm thickets and tall acacia woodland. From July to November game concentrates along the river, with herds of elephant, giraffe, buffalo, impala, and numerous greater kudu. In other areas of the Park, kudu, sable, roan, hartebeest and more elephant may be encountered. Birdlife is abundant and the Park is one of the few places in Africa where the rare Eleonora's Falcon may be found. |
Today, transfer to the airstrip for a flight to the Ruaha National Park. On arrival you will be transferred to Jongomero Camp to stay for 3 nights. Terms: Fully inclusive (all meals, laundry, soft drinks, beers, spirits and house wine).
