Singita represents the ultimate in luxurious safari lodges. Sweni Lodge is the sister to Lebombo Lodge in the Singita Lebombo concession of the Kruger National Park. Located on the border with Mozambique, the concession represents one of the few remaining unexplored territories of this celebrated wildlife sanctuary. The Lebombo mountain range runs diagonally across the expanse, interlaced by the N'wanetsi and Sweni Rivers. The rangers testify that the area holds the highest densities of game they've seen anywhere, including a wealth of Big 5, abundant antelope and birdlife, and an incredible diversity of smaller animals. Constructed in steel, glass and wood but with a classic safari feel, Sweni Lodge has an excellent situation and stands in dappled shade low on the banks of the Sweni River. With a distinctly African style, the décor unites earthenware pots and ethnic artworks with contemporary pieces, all set against a dark palette of colours, lifted with cool green flashes of lime, avocado and kiwi. The lodge is built on stilts with decks of dark timber and is the smallest and calmest of the Singita lodges, with six supremely luxurious and intimate hides tucked away among the trees. The lounge and dining areas overlook the Sweni River and other facilities include a bar, open boma, swimming pool, wine cellar and library. In addition, there is the ‘Village Spa’, which offers an extensive range of top class massages, skin care and spa body treatments, all performed by highly qualified therapists. There is also a fully equipped gym, a steam room for inhalation therapy and a relaxation area where guests can rest between treatments and after exercising.
Accommodation comprises six spacious suites, all luxuriously decorated, light, airy and designed in a modern African style. All are en-suite with double or twin beds. Each suite offers absolute exclusivity and privacy with a wooden game viewing deck and outside shower. Service and cuisine at the lodge are of the highest standard, contributing to Singita being voted ‘Best Hotel in the World’ by Condé Nast Traveller in 2004. | Style | Luxury Safari Lodge | | Air/Con | No | | Dining | Yes | | Children | Age 10 and over, unless whole lodge booked by one family or group. | | No. of Bedrooms | 6 suites | | Transfer Time | Direct light aircraft transfer 1½hrs from Johannesburg to lodge or ½hr light aircraft transfer from Kruger Mpumalanga or Hoedspruit Airports. | | Activities | Swimming pool, gym, health spa, library.
