Zanzibar Serena Inn, Stone Town, Zanzibar

Highly Recommended

The Serena Inn is set overlooking the shingle beach in the centre of Stone Town, Zanzibar's capital.  This stunning hotel is set in two historic seafront buildings that have been masterfully restored to their previous grandeur - when Zanzibar was a crossroads visited by travellers and merchants from all corners of the globe.  Interiors echo Zanzibar's rich Arabic influence as well as the island's indigenous East African roots.

FACILITIES
The Inn's restaurant sits atop the sea wall and faces the Indian Ocean with unobstructed views of mainland Tanzania.  The service in the restaurant is warm, personal, and attentive.  A team of chefs creates sumptuous meals which are served in convivial surroundings.  Local seafood is a specialty, the variety matched only by the different methods used in its preparation.  The full-service lounge and bar serves fresh fruit juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee, cocktails, wines, spirits and liqueurs.  The Inn runs a courtesy shuttle bus to and from the city centre and airport, and has 24 hour room service.  There are bars, bistros and restaurants nearby in the town.

ActivitiesSerena Inn offers extensive water sports and recreational opportunities, including a vast outdoor swimming pool, round-the-island tours in native sailing dhows, scuba diving and snorkelling trips.  Stone Town's architectural landmarks echo the Island's rich cultural heritage.  Excursions to neighboring islands and wildlife reserves are made daily. The nearby Jozani Forest is the habitat of several rare wildlife species, including the red colobus monkey.  In the evening there is special native Arabic-influenced entertainment.
