The Serengeti National Park is vast, stretching from the endless grass plains in the South to the woodlands in the north up to the Kenyan border. The Park is about half the size of Belgium and the Serengeti eco-system as a whole is virtually the same size as Belgium. The Serengeti hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in the world, thought to be more than 3 million, and is home to one of the great wonders in the world, the Great Migration. Over a million Wildebeest move annually from the southern plains, where they give birth in January - March, to the Maasai Mara in the north, and back, accompanied by Zebra and other migratory mammals. Lion, cheetah, hyena, hunting dog and crocodiles make sure only the strongest survive. | | |
Sayari Camp is a seasonal camp that follows the Great Migration. It is located in Piaya, in the southern plains from early December to the end of March and moves to the Mara river area (north-western Serengeti) for the beginning of June to mid November. The Camp offers a unique combination of prime wildlife viewing, guided walking safaris and fly camping and interaction with local cultures (Maasai, Wakuria) just outside the park. The game drives use open vehicles and enjoy the off-road freedom of access to hidden areas and rare wildlife. The Camp operates in the remotest areas of the Serengeti eco-system, allowing for long game drives undisturbed by other vehicles and affording guests private and unique sightings. Activities are sometimes extended in conjunction with our sister seasonal camp: Olakira Camp. The 2 camps offer the unique combination of top wildlife viewing in the prime areas, with a fabulous experience in the private areas, away from the crowds.
The camp consists of 8 spacious guest tents, all with full en-suite facilities. Each tent has its own spacious private verandah with a very comfortable couch and chairs, overlooking the vast Serengeti plains. Inside the tent, very comfortable king-size beds with beautiful cloth and contemporary furniture give the tent a very stylish yet homely feel. Lighting in the tent can be made both atmospheric and at reading strength. The large bathroom has a shower, double sinks and an environmentally friendly ceramic flush loo. There are two large service tents, one for the dining room and one for the lounge, which is amply supplied with comfortable furniture, a sea of cushions and a good number of books on nature & wildlife in the area. | Style | Tented safari camp | | Air/Con | No | | Dining | Yes | | Children | Yes | | No. of Bedrooms | 8 | | Activities | Game drives in 4 X 4s, guided walking safaris, fly camping and interaction with local cultures. | | Price Range | Please ask for details. |
