Sausage Tree Camp, Chifungulu, Zambia

Highly Recommended

Sausage Tree Camp is a unique tented camp nestled amongst a thick forest of mature mahogany, acacia and sausage trees, on the banks of the Lower Zambezi River.  Overlooking scenic channels dotted with water lilies and hippos, the camp is an idyllic place to experience the river and explore the Lower Zambezi National Park - a remote and unspoilt park with stunning scenery and abundant wildlife.  The thrill of elephant, buffalo and their friends and foes passing through the camp is not to be forgotten - your safety is ensured by highly trained staff.

Whilst you watch the reflection of candle light on the Zambezi, the camp's qualified chef will be preparing a sumptuous repast for you to enjoy with good wines.

TRANSFER
Access to Sausage Tree Camp is by light aircraft from Lusaka, Kariba, Mfuwe or Livingstone.  Road and boat transfer is also available from Lusaka or Kariba.

No. of BedroomsLarge and luxurious Bedouin-style tents that are tucked under the forest canopy - each of the 3 twins and 3 doubles is totally private, and has memorable views over the giant river flood plain to the blue-tinted mountains in the distance.  Open-air en suite bathrooms (with flush loos and plenty of hot water for your shower) will thrill even the most blasé of travellers.
Activities

Game drives, escorted wilderness walks and guided canoeing takes you closer to nature - or just sit back, relax and enjoy the view.   Whether a day or night drive, the Lower Zambezi National Park is a must.  Teeming with undisturbed wildlife, large herds of impala and other buck species, buffalo and elephant with the inevitable Zambian experience of warthog, zebra and baboon.  The resident predators include lion and leopard.

Other activities include walking safaris with an armed guard, morning and evening boat cruises, canoeing and tiger fishing.
