This glorious little hotel lies at the foot of the Meherangarh Fort, in the heart of Jodhpur’s Walled City. It is the only luxury hotel to be based in the old town and the views directly up to the fort, which looms above you, and quite spectacular. The hotel comprises four beautiful old, restored, red sandstone buildings juxtaposed with slick, modern structures. It is situated in the prestigious north-eastern quarter of the Walled City, so may simply wonder straight out into the surrounding maze of streets to explore the markets.
The combination of the old and the new works extraordinarily well. The hotel is young at heart and refreshinly different and has a pretty central swimming pool, an enchanting spa, an atmospheric dining room a cool café, and al fresco terraces. Strolling away from the excitement, hustle and bustle of the old town and walking under Raas' imposing gateway, is like entering a blissfully peaceful, hidden oasis. . Accommodation comprises 39 rooms, 7 of which are suites with separate sitting rooms, larger balconies and bathrooms. 35 rooms have views of the Mehrangarh Fort and the remaining 4 rooms have private gardens overlooking the old, restored buildings. Almost all the rooms and suites have fort views, some have balconies and some have terraces. They are highly sophisticated in their amenities and the décor is chic, contemporary and understated. The bathrooms are state of the art and the subtle use of colour, combined with stunning design and craftsmanship and making use of Jodhpur’s pink sandstone and stunning black terrazzo, with splashes of ‘Jodhpur blue’.
