This charming "homestay" is situated on a 45 acre private reclaimed island in Lake Vembanad in the Keralan backwaters. Your hosts, prominent pioneers of backwater farming, grow mango, nutmeg and coconut trees, bean, pepper and banana plantations and exotic flowers that include special varieties of orchids, tiger lilies and anthuriums. Recent diversification has seen 4 delightful cottages added to the farm. The double cottages are relatively simple but very clean, practical and private, and overlook the waterways. The atmosphere is very relaxed and meals are taken centrally at the same table as other guests and the family. (No spirits are allowed. Wine and beer are permitted). During your stay the family will gladly show you round the property. As well as these walks on the farm, there is plenty to see and do including spice tours, cycling, fishing, birding, Ayurvedic treatments, rice boat trips, cooking demonstartions shopping and tailors shops. The farm is very safe and friendly and is suitable for families.
