A remote location down a private track high in the Cardamom Hills about an hours drive from Thekkady. Very peaceful and charming location with comfortable accommodation.
There are ten cottages spread over coffee and banana terraces all connected by a network of stone pathways and steps. All rooms are fully or partly built from ancient buildings salvaged elsewhere and painstakingly rebuilt. Each is uniquely different with a variety of lovely courtyard bathrooms, ancient wood panels, columns, terracotta floors and private verandas. There is a nice swimming pool and new Ayurvedic treatment centre. The lodge has a resident Guru for yoga who also takes painting and cooking classes. The food is delicious, plentiful, typical Kerala cuisine. You can walk in the plantation to learn about coffee and spices, and visit nearby tea and cardamom factories. A half-hour walk takes you to the top of Panchali Medu, a sacred hill to Hindus and Christians and from where there are stupendous views. Not really for children but perfect for a few days' total relaxation (Honeymoon/anniversary) and good food. Friendly staff and a very authentic sense of Kerala.
