Singita Pamushana Lodge is situated in the Malilangwe one of the last remaining pristine game reserves in the South East corner of Zimbabwe. The lodge has just six luxurious suits, and enjoys spectacular views from an elevated position. Decorated in Singita’s inimitable style, the interiors are a chic reflection of the wild African surroundings in this part of the world. The Lilongwe Conservancy has been involved with some of the most extensive research on the continent into animal behaviour, and has some of the best plant and species diversity to be found. The reserve has the ‘Big 5’, both black and white rhino, as well as the ‘Small 6’. The ‘Small 6’ is the collection of small antelope including grey duiker, Sharpe’s grysbok, steenbok, klipspringer, oribi and Livingstone’s suni, which have not been recorded together anywhere else in Africa! Birdlife at Malilangwe is also exceptional, with over 400 species recorded in the area.     Activites at Malilangwe are tailored to suit clients desires, and include game drives, exciting spot lit night game drives, walking trips, visiting bushman caves and paintings, canoeing and fishing in the well stocked dam in front of the lodge, and Pamushana also has a tennis court. Singita Pamushana Lodge is highly involved in the conservation of the area and the upliftment of local communities through various development initiatives led by the Malilangwe Trust. The establishment of the Trust means that guest contributions and any profits from commercial tourism operations are directly ploughed back into the community and conservation initiatives, creating a better life for all. The Malilangwe Trust was established as a non-profit organisation in 1994 as a blueprint for harmonising conservation and community development activities with settlements neighbouring wildlife areas. The Trust is highly acclaimed for its ecological research, breeding and protection of endangered species and models for sustainable community development and outreach projects. High-class, low-volume commercial tourism was established on the property in 1999 to increase the revenue potential of the Trust for further enhancement of community and conservation initiatives. Involvement within the local community also takes the form of philanthropy. For example, 23 000 school children, based in schools in the vicinity of the Trust land, are fed a balanced meal each school day. This project was introduced in response to a very real need which saw the education of many of these children being undermined by inadequate nutrition and daily hunger.
