Olivers is a small, permanent camp situated just outside the Tarangire National Park . The camp has easy access to the park as well as having a large concession area of its own where it offers walking safaris and fly camping. Accomodation is in 6 well spaced individual tented cottages with bush bathrooms. The style is authentic African Safari, almost understated, yet very comfortable.  Oliver's Camp offers true rustic luxury with the emphasis very much on personal service.  (This is one of our favorite classic safari camps in the whole of Africa). Oliver's Camp, located 160 kms from Arusha about 2 hours drive from Arusha.  Tarangire National Park offers a great diversity of wildlife, wild beauty and a diverse natural history.  Tarangire's rolling landscape, eponymous river, swamps, magnificent baobab trees and wildlife concentrations, particularly in the dry-seasons (May to November) provide a first class safari in a very unspoit area.   The game viewing is excellent with elephant, leopard, lion, buffalo together with countless antelope, giraffe, crocodile, hippo, hyena, jackal and bat eared fox. The birdlife is extensive and raptors abound particularly in the dry season. The camp provides very good guides for walking and 4x4 safaris. FACILITIES The dining area is under canvas and the bar houses an extensive library including a telescope for stargazing (the lack of ambient light in this remote area enhances the night sky giving excellent visibility).  A generator is used during the day and kerosene lamps supply light in the tents.   No. of Tents Six large, luxury, walk-in tents, screened all the way around for maximum air circulation and spaced about 100 metres apart.  Each tent is furnished with comfortable wooden beds with cotton sheets, coffee tables and camp-style wardrobes.  Private bathroom facilities (antique long-drop style loo and proper bucket shower) are en-suite to each tent.  These bathrooms are unique and very practical. They are very environmentally friendly. (Flush loos gobble water which is at a premium in this area and the camp feel that it belongs to the animals first).    Activities The camp offers guided game walks and exciting day/night game drives.  In addition luxury mobile camping, simple fly camping and nights out  are available and highly recommended.  A resident naturalist is available.
