In the north of Malawi, the high montane grasslands of the Nyika Plateau rise to above 8,500feet (2,600m). Covering more than 4,000sq.km this elevated plateau has some of the finest scenery, wildlife and wilderness to be found in Central Africa. A park of outstanding natural beauty, the Nyika is home to a bewildering variety of unusual birds and game including roan antelope and leopard. From September to April, a myriad of wild flowers and orchids burst forth. Big skies, vast panoramas - the Nyika is perfect riding country. Follow elephant trails through secluded valleys, trot alongside eland, roan and zebra, canter the edge of towering escarpments and gallop across rolling hills.
