Luxury exclusive traditional tented safaris
Each camp site is set up in advance by a team of highly trained staff. The camp sites are chosen for their beauty and remoteness. The camps are transported by a specially adapted truck, equipped with extra fuel and water tanks, generator and fridge/freezer.
The ‘Meru’ sleeping tents are completely enclosed and contain full size metal beds, complete with high density mattresses and the finest bed linen, dressing tables, a safari wardrobe, luggage racks and safari chairs. At the back is an en-suite bathroom with long-drop loo and bucket shower. At the front of each tent there is a large verandah with a table and two traditional safari chairs.
There is a large ‘mess tent’, as well as a fully-stocked complimentary bar and small library of African books. The cuisine is of the highest standard with innovative menus using fresh fruit and vegetables on fine china and glassware, with bush breakfasts and picnics adding variety. Romantic sundowners lead to candlelit dinners served under the stars or in the dining tent, accompanied by fine South African and European wines and liqueurs.
The Exclusive Traditional Tented Safaris can be for any duration (minimum 4 nights) and normally move through Tanzania’s top National Parks, providing some of the best game viewing in Africa with the exclusivity and comfort of your own private camp in the bush.
Children are welcome on Exclusive Traditional Tented Safaris, and the itinerary can be designed to cater for their more specific requirements.
LIGHT MOBILE CAMPING SAFARIS
These range from 4 day walking safaris to full 14 day mixed walking and game-driving safaris incorporating the Ngorongoro Highlands, the Gol Mountains, Tarangire and the best corners of the Serengeti at any season. These safaris can also be combined with the Permanent Camp and Lodge Safaris or the Serengeti Safari Camp to provide unusual and varied itineraries.
In addition to one of Tanzania’s top guides, who are among the best in their field - experienced, knowledgeable and entertaining the walks are also escorted either by a Maasai or an armed ranger (depending on area).
Adventurous and truly mobile, camps can move location every night. The walk-in tents have 2 canvas cot beds with proper bed linen, bedside table and luggage rack, as well as a small verandah with table, mirror and canvas washstand. There is an adjacent private toilet and a shared bucket shower.
There is a crew of at least 3 to move camp, prepare and serve meals and take care of all the camp chores. Meals are served under the stars or, if the weather is inclement, in a light dining tent with canvas sides .
The walks and drives are tailored to suit the guests requirements with plenty of stops to view game and stretch the legs, relax with friends and take photographs.
Serengeti, Tarangire and Loliondo Safari Camps
The Serengeti Safari Camp offers a unique & flexible opportunity to view the Serengetis wildebeest migration by using a traditional mobile-tented camp located as close as possible to the wildebeest herds. In otherwords the camps are located dependant on the locations of the the migrating herds. Operating on a shared use basis, the camp will not move during a guests stay, but will have been positioned before your arrival in likely proximity to the predicted migratory path. The camp itself is small, with only 6 comfortable walk-in tents, each with its own ensuite bathroom - it caters to a maximum of 12 guests, and the atmosphere is one of informal relaxation.
The Loliondo Safari Camp has been created to complement the Serengeti Safari Camp. Identical in design & concept, it operates within exclusive Maasai concession areas on the peripheries of the Serengeti National Park. Whilst the landscape & game is stunning, the emphasis in these areas is as much on cultural interaction with the Maasai, walking safaris, night drives, sundowners & picnics as on game drives themselves. The Loliondo Safari Camp moves location seasonally as weather & game conditions dictate and a safari spanning both the Serengeti & Loliondo Safari Camps assure guests of the ultimate Serengeti safari experience. Nomad Tarangire is a small - only 4 tents - and stylish new camp offering the ultimate all round Tarangire experience; from game drives in the key game spots, with opportunities for exciting walking safaris within the remote wilderness areas of the park. Each couple, or group of guests, are assured of their own private vehicle and experienced private guide so fantastic daily adventures can be yours to decide. Tarangire offers phenomenal birding, and game viewing with the park being well known for its large concentration of elephants. Also, migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland make it the greates concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti eco-system.
