Located in Botswana's Northern Tuli Game Reserve (where South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe meet), Nitani Private Game Reserve represents the perfect balance between pristine wilderness, high quality game viewing, luxurious and exclusive accommodation, and the passionate commitment of owners who have been part of the landscape for decades. At Nitani guests can look forward to that increasingly rare experience: a world that is unspoilt by visual and aural pollution. The lodge is built on the banks of the perennial Majali River, and all rooms are raised well above the ground to allow wildlife to move freely through the camp while still ensuring guests' safety. There are only five suites, each with its own plunge pool and deck, and spectacular views of the bush and nearby water holes.
All suites are solidly built with thatched roofs, and have air conditioning, luxurious fittings and mahogany furniture in traditional colonial style. The bathrooms are large and fully ensuite. Raised walkways link to the public areas, which include a spacious lounge and dining room, a terrace and fully stocked bar, a swimming pool, and an astronomy deck complete with a state of the art computerised telescope. For those feeling a little wound-up there is wellness centre. Nitani offers superb cuisine using organic foods and vegetables wherever possible. The chef prepares meals in consultation with each guest, ensuring that the camp can easily cater for any dietary preferences. Activities are similarly tailored to the individual: nothing is regimented or structured and everything is done to create a spectacular stay. If guests have a specific interest in astronomy, birds, butterflies, bugs, botany, archaeology, geography or any other of the natural sciences, the resident owner / manager / ecologist will be delighted to share his knowledge.
The region has a variety of landscapes, with a diversity of wildlife to match. There are admirable populations of elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe and eland and, in addition to the common plains animals (such as wildebeest and zebra), there are also monkeys and baboons, as well as steenbok, duiker, grysbok, impala, common waterbuck, bushbuck, and warthog. Also present are aardvark, aardwolf, bat-eared fox, African wild cat, spotted hyena and black-backed jackal. And the bird-life is astounding, with more than 350 different species in abundance. This is a delightful lodge in a beautiful setting and with a helpful, informative and hands-on management. | Style | Traditional safari lodge | | Air/Con | Yes | | Dining | Yes | | Children | No children under 16 years unless lodge is taken for exclusive use | | No. of Bedrooms | 5 rooms including a honeymoon suite | | Pool | Yes, and plunge pools at each suite | | Activities | Game drives, bush walks, birding, botany, geology, archaeology, astronomy.
