Nedile Game Lodge, South Africa

Highly Recommended

Nedile Lodge is situated in the Malaria free Welgevonden Game Reserve, just 2.5 hours north of Pretoria. The Welgevonden Reserve is beautiful, peaceful and has abundant game. Declared a Heritage Site of 33000 hectares, the reserve borders the Marekele National Park. The area is much coveted by bush loving South Africans in the know. The lodge is set in a dramatic position with fine views...even from your bath.

A true bushveld environment is home to some of Africa's most sought after game species including one of the largest collections of white (square-lip) rhino on private land. Other species occurring are elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, eland, sable and many other varieties of antelope. There may even be the opportunity of catching a glimpse of the aardvark, brown hyena or rarely seen honey badger.

Accommodation is in five thatched suites, carefully positioned between rocky outcrops on a north-facing sunny slope and each with lovely views of the Waterberg mountains. Each cottage has a private terrace and a bedroom fireplace for the cooler months (April to August - when there are clear blue skies and low grasses).
Two of the suites may be used as family units with an inter-leading entrance hall. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers and bath.

The main building has a central African theme and consists of a sitting room/bar and dining area, all leading out onto a viewing deck. A rock boma provides an outside dining area where you can enjoy a traditional campfire and true South African hospitality.

There is a nice swimming pool and activities take the form of 4x4 game drives, bush walks, birding, game tracking and bush dining. Each activity is arranged by a qualified guide, normally assisted by a tracker. This is a lovely lodge where you will see good game and enjoy relaxed South African hospitality and the real bush away from the busier reserves.
