Mihir Garh, Rohet, Rajasthan

Highly Recommended

In the vibrant state of Rajasthan, 55 kms south west of Jodhpur City, there is a superb new property.  Mihir Garh is perched dramatically on a sand dune overlooking wonderful countryside.

Meaning ‘Sun Fortress’, Mihir Garh is a spectacular mud fort, blending understated luxury with a rustic and sumptuous earthy elegance. The fort is made of wattle, mud and wood, and comprises of only nine suites set over two floors. The spacious rooms are either sunset or sunrise facing (hence ‘Sun Fortress’), with substantial terraces from which to enjoy the unspoilt and enchanting desert vistas. The bedrooms have a spacious sitting room and large bathrooms have separate bathtubs and showers. The interior design is a tribute to the Rajasthan culture and creativity, with superb craftmanship, fabrics and furniture. The ground floor rooms all have good sized private plunge pools, whilst the rooms upstairs offer Jacuzzi pools. All rooms have Plasma TVs, DVD players, WiFi and are air-conditioned.

Mihir Garh offers both continental and Indian cuisine, and the hotel rate includes all meals, house alcohol, soft drinks and one jeep safari. The hotel has a number of intimate nooks and crannies including three courtyards, a sun terrace and a main swimming pool. They also have a spa with two massage rooms with steam and sauna rooms.

Mihir Garh is owned by one of the keenest horsemen in Rajasthan, and they boast some of the finest ‘Marwari’ horses in their stables. They offer exceptional horse safaris through the local countryside and into the desert. Furthermore, they offer superb village safaris showcasing the prevalent Bishnoi tribal culture surrounding Mihir Garh. Being only 45 minutes south of Jodhpur, many guests spend a morning visiting the ‘Blue City’ before returning to the peace and quiet of Mihir Garh in the evening.
