Mashatu Game Lodge is situated in the Tuli Block area of eastern Botswana bordering South Africa. This wilderness area is diverse with Savannah, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops harbouring an excellent and prolific variety of game. The lodge has 14 comfortable air conditioned thatched cottages, each furnished with two three-quarter size beds and a day bed (good for families who want to share),  en suite bathroom with shower, bath, and a second W.C. Near by is a good sized swimming pool and an excellent discovery wildlife centre. The central area provides an open sided thatch bar with views over a floodlight waterhole where game come to drink. Meals are taken in the lapa area or in the traditional boma for African sky camp­fire dinners. Game drives are conducted in open 4-wheel drive safari vehicles with qualified rangers and trackers over the 30 000 ha (75,000 acre) Mashatu Game Reserve. Beside elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena, general game such as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, eland and a variety of antelope, and nocturnal species like springhares, bat eared fox, civet cat, genet cat, honey badger and mongoose, are prevalent throughout the reserve. The bird life is prolific with Mashatu Game Reserve recording over 366 different species. The 4-wheel drive safari vehicles enable the rangers to leave the road and provide guests with up close game viewing and fantastic photographic opportunities. Night drives, with the aid of powerful wildlife friendly spotlights bring the bush to life. Mashatu also offers a  variety of other types of safari including walking safaris, excellent cycling safaris, elephant studies, and fascinating geological/archaeological and historical safaris are all available. In addition day riding safaris may be taken at the adjacent riding safari centre.
