MAHUA KOTHI Built on the 40 acres grounds and formerly known as Churhat Kothi, the new guest accommodation is exceptional and compliments the original Kothi (homestead) which has been extensively renovated providing a convivial and relaxed central meeting and dining area. The name Mahua Kothi draws its inspiration from one of India's most beautiful tress, the Madhuca Indica, or as it is commonly known, the Mahua or butter tree. Pronounced ma-hoo-a, this tree with its fleshy off-white flowers plays a central role in festivals and rituals, as the vitamins, minerals and sugar-rich flowers are used in a number of ways. Access The lodge is easily accessed by road and rail and combines well with a Delhi/Agra trip. Charter flghts are available. THE NATIONAL PARK Situated in the heart of India near Umaria, Bandhavgarh National Park was established in 1968 but was formerly the private hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Rewa. It covers 453sq km of undulating terrain and the surrounding landscape is stunning and home to the Vindhyas, a mountain range which cradles the national park. The vegetation comprises sal and mixed forest with bamboo breaks and to the south, where village land has been reclaimed, there is open grassland. The park offers varied habitats to over 22 species of mammal and over 250 bird species. GUEST ACCOMMODATION - Charming individual Kutiyas (cottages) built in the vernacular style of Central India
