World renowned as one of Africa’s finest game lodges, Londolozi - run by the same family for over 80 years - is an exclusive safari destination commited to luxurious accommodation, fine cuisine and exceptional service. It is situated on the Sand River at the very heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a vast and growing area, currently covering 6 million acres and incorporating the famous Kruger National Park. This rich wild wonderland assures exceptional game drives and a true wilderness experience. The reserve is a prime wildlife haven - including the "Big 5". The characteristic species are impala, greater kudu, giraffe, buffalo, lion and leopard. Bird diversity is high, including over 40 species of raptor.
The four exclusive camps of Varty, Tree, Pioneer and Founders, and the Private Granite Suites, are in dense riverine forest on the banks of the Sand River, in the northern section of the reserve. Each camp is totally private and self-contained. Varty Camp is built on the site of the original hunting camp and has recently been completely refurbished. Leafy tranquillity pervades the camp. The enormous boughs of an ancient Ebony Tree emerge through the main deck, towering above the thatch roof. The 2 suites and 8 chalets have private swimming pools framed by timber decks, overlooking the riverbank. The living spaces are raised off the ground and shaded under a cathedral of trees.
The camp has a pleasantly down-to-earth quality and the emphasis on family heritage means that children always have a place at Varty Camp. This is also the location of the Life Wellness Centre, Living boutique and Jon Varty Cinematography Centre; all intended to widen the guest experience.
