Londo Lodge, situated on the Mozambique coast north east of the town of Pemba, is a luxury private beach hotel set in a secluded bay with stunning views of the Indian Ocean.  The lodge has ten spacious and private octagon-shaped villas overlooking the sea and two pool suites, each with two bedrooms. The hotel has a private beach, a mangrove beach bar, an excellent  "Africa meets Asia" restaurant, a large swimming pool with comfortable sun chairs, a nice massage/treatments sala and watersports centre hut offering intersting diving trips, snorkelling, various wind watersports and fishing. The grounds extend to magnificent baobab trees and bush gardens from where there are some good walks for picnics or sundowners, later returning by boat. The Ocean Villas are built with traditional materials, have palm-leaf-thatched roofing and all feature a kingsize bed with English handmade mattresses, exclusive Belgian bed linen, air conditioning, large luxurious bathrooms with outdoor shower and a private sunset terrace. Ocean View Suites have there own plunge pool and exceptional views. Watersports include good snorkeling right off the beach, superb reef and wall scuba diving, both deep sea and fly fishing, windsurfing, dhow sail trips, water skiing, boat trips to desolated islands and canoeing in traditional cascinha's. The abundant coral reefs around Londo Lodge are virtually unexplored and have an amazing diversity of marine life. Gamefishing around Pemba and the Quirimbas archipelago, with the renowned St Lazerus bank, is widely considered as some of the best in the world. You can charter a crewed catamanan to sail for the day or stay on board overnight, by prior arrangement. Safari's and bush walks are available in the nearby Quirmbas National Park which has some elephant, lion, leopard and plains game, together with good endemic birdlife. It is worth a visit but is not yet a full blown safari destination though commendable conservation work is in hand.
