Kings Pool is a beautifully designed luxury camp located in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, on the western boundary of Chobe National Park in Northern Botswana. The reserve consists of 125,000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness - an area characterized by open grassland, riverine forest, mixed woodland and the dry Savuti Channel. The camp has large, airy rooms with high ceilings and splendid open views overlooking the King's Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River to the north. WILDLIFE The Linyanti Reserve is a multi-purpose reserve, specialising in the past in photographic safaris . The area is most noted for its very large elephant populations, which can reach enormous densities in the winter months. Impala, lechwe, kudu, zebra, giraffe, sitatunga, sable, roan, waterbuck, buffalo, bushbuck and the smaller antelope are all found here. The major predators - lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena - are resident and regularly sighted. The swamps are ideal for many and diverse species of birds - from fish eagle to waterfowl, cranes, storks, plovers and herons. One of the camp's highlights are the wildlife sounds. Bird song starts off the morning; hippos grunt and snort all day; baboons bark and screech; elephants wander through camp and trumpet, and lions roar around the camp at night!
FACILITIES The spacious lounge, bar and dining room are under thatch on a raised deck and there is an open air "Kgotla" for dining under the stars. These areas are edged by an ample terrace with extensive views over the lagoon and plains beyond. There is also a hide on the periphery of the camp where guests can watch game safely during the midday "siesta" hours. | No. of Bedrooms | The camp offers nine extremely spacious canvas-under-thatch rooms all with large, well-appointed, private bathrooms (with double stone-tiled showers, loo and double vanity units). The rooms are well provided with luxurious furnishings and elegant fabrics and have been designed to ensure that guests are totally comfortable and private. | | Activities | Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives and walks.
