Malawi is dominated by its huge freshwater lake. The lake's shoreline includes beautiful, untouched beaches and its warm, crystal clear waters provide for an abundance of wildlife including over 800 species of tropical freshwater fish, turtles, otters and varied birdlife. Kaya Mawa lodge lies at the southern tip of Likoma Island - the larger of two islands in the northern region of the lake, with breathtaking views of the mountains and wilderness of Mozambique. The restaurant provides a magnificent 360 degree view, whilst local and Western chefs prepare superb food harvested from the lake and the lodge's own gardens. The main bar is set next to a stunning rock pool, fed by a small waterfall. The Mango Bar serves fresh juices and iced drinks for the convenience of those on the beach. All the bars on Kaya Mawa stock both local and imported beverages.
