Set high above the spectacular Kariega River Valley, this 6,000 hectare private game reserve is in the heart of the Eastern Cape's 1820 Settler Country, with its rich historical heritage. The golden beaches of Kenton-on-Sea are less than 15 minutes drive away.  The reserve is ideal for those seeking a relaxed, family orientated, child friendly safari with the chance to see lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino, (the big 5) plus hippo, giraffe, zebra, eland, wildebeest, waterbuck, various antelope, as well as bird species, including nesting martial, crowned and fish eagles.

On the reserve there are four lodges, each with its own distinct character.

Kariega Lodge comprises 15 luxurious and spacious, fully serviced log chalets, all en-suite with their own viewing decks and some with private pools. The chalets are fully air-conditioned and are decorated in an ethnic style, and enjoy complete privacy and wide views. They have 2,3 or 4 bedrooms and are ideal for families or a group of friends.  An architectural award-winning pub and restaurant, nestled in indigenous bush with commanding views of the reserve, serves tasty traditional South African cuisine, or guests can enjoy the experience of a meal in the open-air boma. The lodge has a swimming pool.
