| Activities | Inala is a haven for native flora & fauna and approximately 3/4 of the property is native vegetation. Rambling walks with Tonia will introduce you to the flora and fauna of Inala; it is a breeding site for the rare Swift Parrot and home to 90 species of birds. The rare Forty-spotted pardalote (a tiny jewelled bird) is often seen near the cottage. Wildlife: much of the wildlife is nocturnal and an evening drive with Tonia is likely to reveal Brushtail Possums, Bennetts Wallabies, Tasmanian Pademelons and Eastern Quolls. Tasmanian native hens, echidnas and possums, wallabies, birds of prey and many others can also be seen on the property. Around the island visit a colony of Australian Fur Seals, a large Fairy Penguin rookery and keep an eye out for migrating Humpback and Southern Right Whales - next stop Antarctica! Further a field: Bruny Island is an island of surprises - gentle countryside and wild coastlines, quiet beaches and roaring surf, lighthouses, farmhouses, and a heritage of sealers, whalers and explorers. |
