Fumba Beach Lodge - Zanzibar

Recommended

Situated on one of Zanzibar’s most secluded beaches Fumba Beach Lodge is a comfortable, imaginative and peaceful hideaway. Set on forty acres of the Menai beach conservation area, Fumba beach peninsula is both a large marine haven, and an eco-project resulting in the Fumba peninsula being designated an area of outstanding natural beauty since 1998.

Fumba Beach Lodge has twenty six cottages and sea facing rooms. These range from simple ensuite Bandas, through four luxury suites to two top of the tree Baobab suites. All rooms have king size double beds, mosquito nets, fans, top-quality imported bed linen and quilts for the very occasional chilly nights. The luxury suites have a bath, a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired outside shower overlooking the ocean with direct access to the beach, a private roof terrace and king size beds. Baobab suites are built around a 300 year old baobab tree and have large bathrooms, open elements and direct access to the beach.

Activities
Picnics and day trips
Take a traditional Zanzibari dhow to one of the many stunning archipelago islands. Trips include an exploration of the Menai Bay area, home to the Bottlenose and Indo-pacific humpback dolphin. There are dolphin sightings on 75% of these trips. If wind permitting you sail back to Fumba in to the setting sun.

Komonda Island Picnic
The dhow with an outboard motor takes you to one of the largest and most abundant reefs in Menia Bay for a snorkel, and then on to the petrified coral islands of Komonda, including a mangrove forest tour. A fabulous buffet lunch is prepared by the lodge chefs before returning.

Pungume Island
Take a beautiful dhow ride to the Pungume reef for snorkeling, and then on to the sandbank with a 360 degree view of the turquoise blue Indian Ocean. A fabulous buffet lunch is prepared by our chefs and soft drinks are provided.

Fishing and snorkel excursions
Fishing includes a beautiful troll with professional deep sea fishing equipment across the Zanzibar Channel. Many of the local fish caught  include Spanish or King Mackerel, Trevelly, Tuna, and Barracuda. Snacks prepared by the Chefs and soft drinks are included. In August and September there are whales in the Menai Bay area.

Kayaks and Windsurfers are available for rental

The Spa
You can choose from a wide range of beauty treatments and a range of massages: Swedish, therapeutic, aromatherapy and Zanzibari scrubs.
