Equus Horse Safaris is based in its own reserve in the Waterberg Mountains of the Limpopo Province, South Africa. The reserve encompasses 1000 hectares of unspoilt mountain wilderness at the top of the Kransberg peaks and has traversing rights over a further 5000 hectares. The owners Wendy Adams and John Miller, pioneered horse safaris in South Africa, but Wendy has now retired from guiding and her great friend Carla Lucassen now runs the riding safaris on Equus. The horses are still fantastic and the reserve is as beautiful as ever and it is still a great environment in which to enjoy great riding in this malaria-free reserve. Why not make an itinerary and stay at Equus and Wait a Little near the Kruger National Park (4 nights at Equus and 3 nights on a big five riding safari near the Kruger National Park. FACILITIES Accommodation can be arranged locally depending on your budget. The horses are of Arab, Friesian, Boerperd and Thoroughbred stock and are well-schooled in English style. Trail saddles, with a deep seat for comfort, are used. Equus caters for novice to advanced riders who can post to the trot and canter confidently. Weight limit is 95 kgs (210 lbs). Families and children are welcome.
