Meru National Park, in the old Northern Frontier District, is wild Africa at its most alluring. The animals are shy, unused to their human counterparts. Elsa's Kopje is a private hideaway perched on top of Mugwongo Hill, site of George Adamson's first camp. The lodge is named after Elsa, the orphaned lioness reared by George and Joy Adamson and returned to the wild in Meru and for the rocky outcrop it sits on. This park is singular in Kenya for being the driest - with little rainfall and at the same time resplendent with thirteen rivers and numerous streams running off the nearby mountains. The result is a striped landscape with lush green ribbons running through dry brown valleys.
TRANSFER Access to the camp is by road or charter flight to the camp's airstrip.
