A site of remarkable variety and beauty, the Great Barrier Reef is a World Heritage Site extending 2,000 kilometres along Australia’s east coast. It is the world's most extensive coral reef system and is one of the richest areas in terms of faunal diversity containing the largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish, and 4,000 types of mollusc. Contrary to popular belief, the reef is not a continuous barrier, but a broken maze of coral reefs ranging in size from less than one hectare to more than 100 000 hectares, and in shape from flat platform reefs to elongated ribbon reefs. FACILITIES Style Island Resort Accommodation There are 160 guest rooms all of which have a private en suite bathroom and an outdoor sitting area. Our recommendations are the Beach Suites and Beach Rooms as both offer views over the surrounding bays, islands and waters and have easy access to the beach. The suites are bigger than the rooms and they have a bath as well as a shower.
