ITINERARIES From Windhoek to Swakopmund After departing Windhoek in the early afternoon, Desert Express heads north to the Otjihavera Siding. Here you will be taken to the luxurious Okapuka Game Ranch to experience the excitement of watching lions feed only metres away. When you're back on board, Desert Express continues westward while you enjoy the sunset over the open vastness of Namibia. In the Welwitschia Restaurant, a sumptuous three-course dinner awaits you. After a night at a quiet siding, Desert Express continues westward into the desert and among the dunes between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Here, there's a one-hour stop to allow passengers to disembark and take a walk. The train then proceeds to Swakopmund, arriving at approx. 10:00.
From Swakopmund to Windhoek Desert Express leaves Swakopmund in the early afternoon and stops at the Stingbank siding, where you can enjoy the sights of the Kahn Valley. Knowledgeable Namibian guides will explain the fascinating history of this area and the railway line. Back on the train, enjoy a sundowner in the Spitzkoppe Lounge while taking in the splendour of the wide open spaces. Dinner is served in the Welwitschia Restaurant. Next morning, Desert Express arrives at the Otjihavera siding from where you will be taken to the Okapuka Game Ranch for a Game drive. From here Desert Express continues its journey to Windhoek where it arrives at approx 10:30.  FACILITIES The Spitzkoppe Lounge is air-conditioned and offers a full bar service. The Welwitschia Restaurant serves breakfast and a three-course dinner. Sit back and enjoy the view in the Stardune Bistro, or admire the Namibian night skies in the Starview Coach.
