Denis Island, Seychelles

Highly Recommended

This crescent-shaped island offers its visitors a stay that is unapologetically back-to-nature, yet which is delightfully enhanced by rustic luxury and some of the finest cuisine in the Seychelles. A relaxed, distinctly French ambiance pervades this tiny atoll, largely devoted to lush tropical forests, sparkling white beaches and enticing shallow lagoons.

Denis Island, Seychelles

Once a pirate’s lair and rumoured to have buried treasure hidden somewhere within its 375 acres, the island opened as a resort in 1978. The exclusive private island, which can be walked around in two hours, is largely devoted to lush tropical forests, deserted white sand beaches and enticing shallow lagoons offering unrivalled swimming. All of its 25 air-conditioned, individual cottages are secreted away amidst the casuarina and coconut trees on either side of the main house.

Denis Island

A local ‘island’ theme is dominant yet en suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, private terraces, tea/coffee-making facilities and minibars provide the necessary creature comforts. Whilst nature walks and tennis are popular pastimes, days are usually whiled away on the beaches, indulging in a spot of snorkelling, windsurfing or canoeing. Affiliated to the resort is a PADI-certified dive centre and deep-sea fishing charters can be easily arranged.
