Deloraine House, situated near the Great Rift Valley is the home to the Vorspuy family and well away from the main tourist routes. The area around Deloraine is beautiful with some plains game and a varied topography. This old colonial house was built in 1920 by Lord Francis Scott, a pre-eminent early settler. Accommodation in 3 nicely decorated double bedrooms with their own bathrooms on the first floor, each having a nice view. A further 2 rooms are on the ground floor and share a bathroom. Finally there are 3 double rooms with their own bathrooms in a garden cottage adjacent to the house. The estate, running to some 5000 acres of farmland, grazing and bush is wonderful for exploring on foot or on horseback, with or without a guide. The farm is also the base for a separate and jointly owned specialist riding safari operation which stables over 80 horses so there is plenty of choice if you want to ride. The gardens are themselves also worth the visit with good bird life and interesting vegetation. There are several interesting day trips to the flamingo lakes of Bogoria and the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park (white rhino) which are within easy reach by vehicle in about 40 minutes. FACILITIES All meals are taken in the main house dining room and guests are expected to be part of the family in a house party atmosphere. There is a large swimming pool, croquet lawn, tennis and lots of space.
