With some of the world's prime wilderness reserves and Africa's most skilled rangers, CCAfrica (Conservation Corporation Africa) now offers a range of exciting four-day walking safaris in the Ngala and Phinda Private Game Reserves. Guests, accompanied throughout by highly-trained armed rangers, have the opportunity to identity spoor, bird-watch and learn about habitats and ecology as they walk through the bush. THE WALKS Each day guests enjoy a five-hour morning walk, and a short pre-sunset walk and night-drive combination. While watching a breeding herd of elephant or tracking a rhino is possible, the emphasis is on micro-systems, and time is spent observing spiders, ant lions, dung beetles and other small creatures. The walks always cover new terrain. The safety of guests is the highest priority and dangerous animals are avoided. The four-day trails accommodate up to eight people in four tents and are ideal for families, groups or individuals. A reasonable standard of fitness is a prerequisite but distances covered depend on wildlife encounters. There are two departures weekly.
