Belvidere House, built in 1848, is a prime example of Georgian architecture in the Eastern Cape colony. It achieved National Monument status in 1995. Built using local materials, the original yellowwood floors and yellowwood staircase are still in evidence. In its time, Belvidere House was a centre of hospitality as well as serving as the local Post Office, indeed a copy of a letter marked with a Belvidere postmark can be seen in the entrance hall. Breakfast on the verandah while the sun rises over Belvidere Bay, enjoy lunch at the pool, and end the day with a sundowner trip across tranquil waters. Savour a gourmet dinner amid yellowwood and candlelight before joining the Belvidere locals for a nightcap in the Bell Tavern, housed in the recently restored original farmhouse. | No. of Bedrooms | Stay in your private Cape-style cottage, each tastefully decorated with comfortable sofas and log fireplaces.
