Arguably The Beach House should be entitled THE Beach House. Nominated as one of the top 20 villas in the world it is perfection. The villa faces south and gazes over the gardens across the white sandy beach to the warm surf. Boogie boards are provided. To quote from the guest book - 'If you want to top up your tan, read your backlog of books and lie about doing nothing, then locking yourself away at The Beach House might be the best way to lose yourself.' The large pool, shaded by the palm trees, is an inviting distraction from the next chapter. The sand is of the type that seems to flow between your toes. Location 198km (4-5 hrs) from Colombo on the edge of Tangalla. The journey can be done in one day or with a stop over for a night or two in Galle, or elsewhere along the way. Sitting area An enclosed sitting room leads onto the front terrace with blissfully comfortable lounging seats looking over across the Indian Ocean. Dining area A table is set on the veranda. Kitchen / Staff A fully equipped kitchen and a full time staff of 4 will ensure you are pampered and left to drift from dreamy day to dreamy day. Area The drive from Colombo is a long one but well worth it. Tangalla itself is fairly typical; dusty and noisy but the surrounding countryside with Buddhist temples to rival Dambulla; Hindu temples of Kataragama; not to mention the proximity to Yala national park, the area affords some great sightseeing opportunities. Further more, although there are an increasing number of hotels in the area you may still find yourselves the only foreigners. Bliss. However if you need to simply unwind and drift wherever your dreams take you then this is the villa. Enjoy.
