A secluded inlet on the remote coast of South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, where the waves of the Southern Ocean crash in from the Antarctic, plays host to a remarkable marine spectacle. The bay is home to hosts of marine birds as well as a pod of Bottlenose dolphins and a rare colony of Australian sea lions. In this beautiful coastal setting, Alan and Trish Payne have made their home and established themselves respectively as foremost experts on the sea lions and dolphins. The uniqueness in the experience is in joining these remarkable animals in the water. Interacting and playing with the Sea lions in their own home is a life changing and immensely educational wildlife experience. While the return trip home with dolphins, whom Trish knows by name, riding the bow wave is an exhilarating experience. Staying with Alan and Trish in their luxurious beachfront accommodation and learning from their years of research and understanding provides an insight into an area of Australia’s natural environment that few people know of.
